Students Give More than $8.8 Million to Speed the Light in 2011

More than $262 million has been
raised for Speed the Light since its beginning in 1945. Last year, Assemblies
of God youth raised more than $8.8 million for STL, which provides missionaries
with essential transportation and creative communication equipment they need to
reach the lost.
“It is exciting to see students,
youth groups, and churches consistently passionate about taking the good news
of Jesus to the ends of the earth,” Caudill says.
A banquet was held February 2,
2012, in Branson, Missouri, to recognize the top giving churches and districts
to STL in 2011.
“STL giving in 2011 represented
an increase of over a half million dollars, or 6.2 percent, over 2010,” says
Chet Caudill, Speed the Light director. “Our top five churches last year all
eclipsed $100,000 in giving — the first time this has ever happened. In
addition, 27 districts from across the nation increased in STL giving, and
seven of these had record years.”
