Prayer Task Force
Gain Insight Into Overseas Ministry - Fulfill Christ’s Command for World Evangelization
The Purpose…
Missionaries face the mammoth task of taking the gospel to people whose religion, culture and language are unfamiliar to them. The task is daunting but not impossible.
Prayer Task Force has been mobilized to provide onsite intercessors who will, like Aaron and Hur in Exodus 17, strengthen the missionary’s arms and tear down the stronghold of the enemy through prayer
and fasting.
Through participation in outreach activities and demonstrating God’s love, Prayer Task Force team members gain insight into overseas ministry and fulfill Christ’s command for world evangelization.
The Plan…
A Prayer Task Force Team is dedicated to pray and fast for a specific need for an overseas missionary. The 10 – 12-member group, recruited from one or several churches, may concentrate their intercession on planting a new church, breaking spiritual bondages or serving as prayer support for a crusade or other outreach events.
The Process…
A regional director, area director or missionary may request a Prayer Task Force Team through U.S. Relations in Assemblies of God World Missions. Following approval, a team is recruited.
Team participants must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have a born again Christian experience
- Have a consistent Christian testimony
- Receive written endorsement of the pastor
- Agree to abide by AGWM regulations
- Provide for all expenses for participation
General Team Activities
A Prayer Task Force day usually begins with prayer sessions at 6 a.m. until noon. The afternoons often are spent in “prayer walks” and distributing invitations to crusade meetings and tracts or other literature. Times of special prayer also may be included for national leaders and missionaries. Generally, one meal a day is shared in the late afternoon. Team members participate in crusade meetings or outreach services during the evenings. On some occasions, the evening may be designated as free time or for relaxation.
